Physics students at Skidmore gain hands-on experience in the Machine Shop and the IdeaLab makerspace through activities and projects that are built into the physics curriculum. Previous projects that physics students have worked on using the Â鶹ŮÀÉ Machine Shop and/or IdeaLab makerspace include:

  • subwoofer and tweeter
  • drone
  • wind tunnel
  • self-balancing robot
  • musical instruments (banjo, ukelele, kalimba)
  • acoustic levitator to study atmospheric water droplets
